Will We Know each other in Heaven ?

A Scriptural response from my brother in the Lord --- Hillbilly.

While the Bible does not just come out and say so my personal belief is yes we will. I could not think of any reason we wouldn't.

Here are a few verses that might be pertinent.

Matthew 17:3-4 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

Peter James and John had recognition of Moses and remember Moses had died and God had buried him, Elijah had gone up in a whirlwind to be with God yet they knew who he was.

Now I realize that both have to come back and die as the two witnesses in Revelation but that Peter James and John knew them is evidence that we will recognize others.

One of the greates passages is found in Luke 16.

Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Notice the rich man new and recognized Abraham and Lazarus.

In the Book of Revelation we have two interesting exchanges:

Revelation 22:8-9 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

In both intstances John tried to bow before resurrected men who remembered their past. One was a New Testament Saint and one was a evidently one of the Prophets of old.

In Rev. 4:4 we are introduced to 24 Elders. They retained their identity. The Apostles will sit on twelve thrones judging Israel during the Kingdom. (Matt. 19:28)

There are others but this should show the probability that we retain our likenesses. Having said that let us remember we will not look exactly like we do now. In a glorified body we shall be perfect. I'll have hair (grin). I believe that babies will have full grown bodies just as Jesus and the old will take on the age of a full grown young person. I believe it will appear to be of the age Jesus was in His prime which would have been about 30 yrs. old.

We will take our body with us as we are resurrected. Jesus came forth in the same body only changed and glorified. We will do the same. This mortal will put on immortality and this corruption shall put on incorruption but it will be OUR body that this will happen to. That is the reason the graves will open (Matt. 27:52)

I hope this helps and if there are any more questions on this or any other please feel free to ask. I am not an authority but I have studied questions such as this many times and usually can call a verse or two to mind.

God Bless,

Hillbilly
