"There Was Silence In Heaven" by Stephen Monday

"There Was Silence In Heaven"

There was a silence in heaven

For God had just commanded seven

His angels received these words from Him

By My Spirit, as it is written:

The judgments came, HIS righteous curse

For only HE, bringeth GOOD, from worse!

The angels spoke to warn all men

The wrath that comes, Hath come from HIM

The stars that fell, that poisoned the waters

Just quickened His fires that purge, as hotter

For all judgments work, to do His will

The rising smoke, we can see still

For as light prevails against the dark

To the end of every matter, God hits His mark

For it used to be, His mysteries veiled

But now all eyes shall see,His prophecies never FAIL

For when Christ spoke, I have overcome

His eyes of faith, saw it as DONE.

God bless you always brother .... Julie

Today's Study in The Word -- By Brother Hillbilly

BIBLE FOCUS THEME ----- TEMPTATION

1 John 2:15-16 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, THE LUST OF THE FLESH, and THE LUST OF THE EYES, and THE PRIDE OF LIFE, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

When John penned these words he laid bare the root cause of every deliberate sin in the world. I have put in bold letters the three areas where you will be tempted to sin. I believe every sin can be placed in at least one of these three categories.

The lust of the flesh is that desire deep within for certain things that will satisfy the physical cravings in man. Food, drink, sexual desires, drugs including nicotine; all fall within a category that the body desires once it has tasted or when a person reaches a certain point in physical maturity. A person addicted to chocolate will not be satisfied with caramel. The body will actually demand to be fed and satisfied to quiet the need for the substance or pleasure.

The lust of the eyes. The desire to see what may not be good for you. It has been said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. What goes in the eye will reach to the very heart of man. Once you have seen something that makes an impression on you the image may be indelibly imprinted on your brain. It may rise up in you and trigger the desires of the flesh or it may bring trauma if the image was one of tragedy. I have flashbacks of certain things I have seen as a child and they are still real to me. This is one of the great dangers of television and movies. Images are implanted and impure thoughts are initiated. One fantasizes and replaces his self or her self as one of the characters. One may be induced to try certain things that they would never have even thought of if they hadn't seen it acted out. Teen pregnancies, illicit drugs, alcoholism, on and on and on because the eyes have seen it and then the flesh desires it.

The pride of life. This covers desire to be somebody. Wealth, power, popularity all figure into the pride that befalls man. The desire to have praise and adulation heaped on you. The end of the trail of this sin is the desire to be worshipped. This is the sin of Satan and it led to his downfall, many of the angels and all of mankind to the point that man had to have a Redeemer. Notice the pride displayed in him: Isaiah 14:12-15How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN, I WILL EXALT MY THRONE ABOVE THE STARS (angels) OF GOD: I WILL ALSO SIT UPON THE MOUNT OF THE CONGREGATION , in the sides of the north: 14 I WILL ASCEND ABOVE THE HEIGHTS OF THE CLOUDS; I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Of all the sins committed I would suppose that the sin of pride is the one God hates the most. It is the one that is the hardest to repent of. It is the one that is the hardest to recognize in ourselves. Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

It was with the knowledge of these three points of weakness in man that Satan approached Eve. He taunted her with the fact that there was something that was forbidden to her and yet that forbidden object was actually good for her. "Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" (Gen. 3:1) I believe he said this in an arrogant manner that induced a strong reaction in Eve. In verses 2 and 3 Eve replies that she can eat of all the trees except one, on the penalty of death. Satan countered with a lie and Eve was torn between obedience and rebellion.

Notice now in verse 6: And when the woman saw that the tree was GOOD FOR FOOD, (Satan may have been eating the fruit while talking) and that IT WAS PLEASANT TO THE EYES, and A TREE TO BE DESIRED TO MAKE ONE WISE, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Do you see the three points of temptation? Good for food: Lust of the flesh. // Pleasant to the eyes: Lust of the eyes. // A tree to be desired to make one wise: Pride of life. None of us are immune to these points of temptation. The only way we can have the strength to resist is through the power of God's Spirit working in us who are saved. That the world is going to hell at lightning speed only shows that few in the world are actually saved and depending on Jesus.
