Today's Verse Study In Romans

A Verse Study in Romans ~ Written by Brother Hillbilly

Romans 15: Vs.2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. The example of the "good Samaritan" (Lk. 10:30-37) is to be our example as to whom our neighbor is. It is not to be just the one who lives next door or just down the block, but the one who shares this small planet with us and we have the opportunity to good to(VS. 3) For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.If there is an understatement in the Bible, this has to be it. "For even Christ pleased not himself". We as God's people cannot even come close to imagining the price that Jesus paid for us. It just does not register. We are not talking about some mere mortal man. We are talking about the God of Glory. The Creator of everything. The matchless, eternal God. He left the splendor and majesty of heaven to come to this low land of sin, sorrow and shame. For what? For a creation that had turned it's back on Him and His way. An unappreciative people who had turned to their own ways and followed after the god's of the world and wanted no part of the God who loved them. When He came to do the Father's bidding, He found opposition on every hand. He was mocked and ridiculed beyond belief. Even after performing so many miracles He was laughed at and scorned. "For even Christ pleased not himself". Hunger, thirst, storm, heat and bitter cold were His constant companions. "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."(Luke 9:58J) he would say to a would be follower. All the way to Calvary marched our resolute Saviour that "pleased not Himself". All the way to a terrible scourging, mocking and degrading death on the cross. He pleased not Himself that you and I might have a way to be pleasing to God.

Today men still mock this Saviour that pleased not Himself but took our reproach on Himself that we might have the opportunity to enjoy His presence forever. Thank you Jesus! Paul, in verse 3 here, is quoting Psalm 69:9: For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

Included in today's study is a prayer that I hope many will join me in their prayer time this day .

Prayer of Faith - Written by Brother Stephen Monday

Oh FATHER, creator of the heavens and earth,
We extol thy HOLY name, above ALL things.

I believe thy HOLY WORDS in THE BOOK OF LIFE
are THE ONLY absolute, infallible and unchangeable TRUTH.

For THOUST HAST the WORDS of eternal life.
THOUST HAST the WORDS of healing, for any and ALL mannerof infirmities.

THOUST mighty hand stretches fourththe magnificent expanse of the universe.
THY HOLINESSis beyond definition. I humbly ask OH FATHER OF FATHERS,that YOU incline thine ears onto the voice of minesupplications. Let THY TENDER MERCIES LIGHT UPON thisNation, so that we shall turn our soul onto YOU, andturn us away, from wickedness of heart.

Teach us oh LORD to love our brethren even as we love ourselves.

We ask oh, HOLY FATHER that you heal our infirmities of mindbody and spirit. Let every man love and put GOD first above all things on earth.
We ask this HOLY FATHER in JESUS MIGHTY NAME,
so that we will have your promise of eternal salvation,
by the grace of JESUS CHRIST, may we be saved.
When we say in truth to thee, we BELIEVE!

May God continue to richly bless all of you,
