God's Clock

"And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee."
Acts 24: 24,25 King James Version

The alarm on God’s Clock is going to go off one day, and Jesus will return. There will be no time to get ready because we don’t know when He is coming back. Felix was trembling because God had convicted him, and he did not want to make a decision then.

You and I do the same thing today. Many times God will speak to our hearts and tell us to do something but we put it off until it is more convenient for us. He may tell us to pick up the telephone and call someone, or go visit someone. We do not know what tomorrow will bring, or if there will be a tomorrow. The only thing we have is right this second. Jesus could return while I am writing this, and Praise God, my bags are packed and I’m ready to go!

Several years ago in Texas, my Sunday School Teacher invited us to her home for a Christmas Party. We had a lot of fun playing games and eating all that wonderful food. Then, it was time for the Devotional. She told us something that I will never forget.

She said, "I had to place my aunt in the nursing home as I was unable to care for her due to my busy medical practice. I decided that I was going to go see her soon as she had raised me and was like a mother to me. I kept putting it off, however. One day, I made arrangements with another doctor to see my patients if an emergency came up while I was gone. As I was walking up the stairs to the nursing home, the Director of Nurses met me and said, "Dr. Bailey, I’m so sorry but your aunt passed away five minutes ago".

Dr. Bailey said to us, "Girls, if I never teach you anything else, I pray with all my heart that you will learn this lesson. Never put off telling someone how much you love that person and what he or she means to you."

Have you told your family, friends, and loved ones how much they mean to you? More important than that, have you put off making a commitment to Jesus? You do not have the guarantee of even another minute. All we have is right now, right this minute. Please open your heart to Jesus. Your family wants to meet you in Heaven.

I'm Just Too Busy, Lord

"I'm just too busy, Lord
to read your Word today."
I shuffled through the Bible,
then put the Book away.

"I'm just too busy, Lord,
to take the time to pray."
I'm sure God will forgive me.
I'm just too rushed today.

"I'm just too busy, Lord
to help that friend in need."
I hear God's inner prompting,
but I've no time to heed.

"I'm just too busy, Lord,
to stop and worship You."
Today's the day I'm planning
for me, some things to do.

I had a dream one night.
I knocked on heaven's door.
An angry angel answered:
"What are you knocking for?

"God's far too busy now.
He has no time for you.
On earth you were too busy.
So now, God's busy, too."

He turned away from me.
I stood there all alone.
I felt such utter blackness,
the likes I've never known.

When I awoke next morning,
I knelt beside my bed:
"From now on, make me busy
for You, my Lord, instead."

New Beginnings

We are given new beginnings every moment set in time,
A chance to start again, moving upward on our climb.

Climbing towards a sacred Kingdom, higher than the earth.
Earth was blessed with the starting ground of His human birth.

Birth of a holy child was a blessing from our God above.
Above us reigns Lord Jesus, who has shown the greatest love.

Love so pure and holy and the love that sets us free;
Free to serve the Prince of Peace for all eternity.

Psalm 119:160

Thy word is true from the beginning:
and every one of thy righteous
judgments endureth for ever.
