Why It Is Called Good Friday

Today is Good Friday

As a child I wondered why it was thus called
That was the day my Lord was beaten with fists and whips
as His blood mingled with their spit
The day when a plaited crown of thorns was pushed on His brow
When His hands and feet were nailed to that old rugged cross
Him being striped of clothing for all mocker to see and sneer
Soldier sat at the foot of His cross and gambled for His cloak
Around three in the afternoon the sky turned dark
as Jesus cried out to GOD His Father
My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me
Jesus at that moment took mine and your sins upon Himself
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God took His eyes off of Jesus when our sins were placed on Him
A Holy God can not look on sin---thus he had to look away from Jesus
He became the sacrifice to make us worthy to be with God
Now-God sees Jesus' love and blood when He looks at me
He did that for me and you---He loves us that much
I would hate to know that there was a second in time that
God took His eyes off of me---
Because of what Jesus did that day
that is something I will never have to worry about
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day I gave my life to Him I was His forever
This is why it is called Good Friday
He took mine and your place and took our sins on Himself
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Christians we serve a living Savior
Death could not keep Him
He arose that Easter Sunday
and is in Heaven interceding for me and you
one day He will return
what a blessed day that will be
Three Crosses
Three crosses on the mount
In the center- The Lamb of God,
Shedding His blood
Our covering fount.
Three crosses
Three views
Who would know
The Good News?
One thief spoke and mocked-
The other spoke and believed.
The blessings of Christ
The believer received.
One knew the Son
And held a measure
Of the gift of faith-
Our greatest treasure.
Three crosses stood
Where our sin debt was paid
Salvation – Under One name
Everlasting covenant made.
Look at the three crosses.
Who are you unto Jesus?
Luke 23
:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Acts4
:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
