Our Judge

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Deuteronomy 8:3
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

John 12:47-48 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

If I have a "hobby horse" that I ride when it comes to Biblical matters, it can be summed in the verses above. This is the bedrock foundation to understanding that God has given us His every Word to live by and then be judged by. There is no unrighteousness with God and that being the case it is imperative that He gives us His instructions that we might stand or fall by what we do with those words. When speaking of the righteous judgment that Jesus would exercise, Isaiah had these words: Isaiah 11:3-5 And shall make him (Jesus the Branch of verse 1 of Isaiah 11) of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS SHALL HE JUDGE the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And RIGHTEOUSNESS shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The Psalmist David in the 12th Psalm addresses the battle between the pure Word of God and the words of men. Psalm 12:1-8 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 THOU SHALT KEEP THEM, O LORD, THOU SHALT PRESERVE THEM FROM THIS GENERATION FOR EVER. 8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

Notice how the godly man ceasing is connected to what is spoken. "They speak vanity" (vs. 2). They speak "with flattering lips" and with a "double heart" (vs. 2) In verse 3 "proud things" are added to the list. In verse 4 authority becomes the issue: notice "our lips", "our tongue", "who is Lord over us?". It is a question of authority and obedience! In verse 5 we find "safety" for the "godly man" of verse 1. What is the answer that brings this safety? Look at verse 6 and 7! It is the pure Words of God which He has preserved and given. Now look at verse 8. This is today's condition! People have stopped exalting the Word of God and are exalting those who would bring an impure word.

Folks, if you never learn anything else from me I would hope you would learn this. You are to test every man's words by the pure and preserved Word of God. If he is your pastor. TEST HIM. If it is your evangelist. TEST HIM. If it is your priest. TEST HIM. If it is your Pope. TEST HIM. If he is your teacher, deacon, bishop, elder etc. TEST HIM!! Folks, listen to me; you are to TEST EVERY WORD THAT I WRITE by the Living Words of the Living God that He has placed in your hands!!!! BE BEREAN!! (Acts 17:10-11)

If I ever fail to give a reference and you doubt where I am coming from then I would urge you to challenge me on it. I am not infallible. God is and His Word is. I make mistakes. God has given us a Bible that has no mistakes nor errors in it. I will gladly supply the verses and reasoning. I will supply as many cross references as I can find.

Teaching the Word of God is a grave responsibility and I don't take it lightly. I would hate to stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ and be judged on leading someone astray. That is why I never write nor stand and teach anything without having prayed to my Saviour to keep me from error.

Every doctrine of every Church or individual will stand or fall according to what God has had written for our benefit.

First Spoken

There is one Author of all love
Sent to us from Heaven above.
First love came from Jesus.

While waking up to a brand new day
Pray to Him and follow His way.
First day was made by Jesus.

Eyes should read His holy book
Deserving more than just one look…
First book was written by Jesus.

Words were spoken for all to hear
Listen close and follow near
Follow first and only Jesus.

Now is the time to do what's right
Turn to Him that gave us sight
First sight came from Jesus.

One door will open for those that see
Where souls rejoice in eternity
First, trust in our Lord Jesus.

Hebrews 2:3
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great
A salvation? Which having at the first been
Spoken through the Lord, was confirmed unto us
By them that heard;
