GOD'S WORD-WHERE IS IT?

Introduction

In this study I will attempt to present convincing evidence that God has given His Word to man in this present age. I will also attempt to show where it can be found and that it is preserved to us perfectly without error. Let me state from the beginning I am no scholar on the subject and cannot present it as many others could in a more referenced and scholarly work. Regardless of my limitations in scholarship my faith in God and in His Bible is as strong as any who have made a life study of manuscripts and their evidence. This work may go through several posts as I have already seen there is just too much to put in one or two posts.

We will start by looking at what the Bible has to say on preservation. All verses in this work will be from the KJV unless verses from other versions are shown for comparison.

Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Written by the psalmist David is the promise of preservation of the pure words of God. According to verse 6 the words of God that are preserved from David's generation and forever and are preserved as pure as silver would be that had gone through a purifying process 7 times. If the Bible is true and I have no doubt that it is then somewhere on this earth is to be found God's Words perfectly preserved. Where is it? Have we got it? Can you be sure you have it?

Men, in attacking the idea we can have a perfectly preserved Bible, are quick to tell us that it is impossible for imperfect man to produce a perfect work such as a perfect translation of the manuscripts that the translations come from. In this I will agree as long as you leave God out of it. The scriptures above do not credit men with that ability. The clear statement is that God will preserve them. Did you ever stop to think that the originals of all scripture were written by imperfect men? The last time I looked the only perfect person to ever walk the face of this earth was Jesus.

2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The Spirit of God moved men to speak. They were not perfect men and many were not very literate yet God moved them to say exactly what He wanted said. We have what they said recorded for our understanding. Don't you know that God is able to control the thoughts of those who write and translate just as He is the thoughts to speak as He gave words to His prophets? 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
One of the arguments against preservation is that all the translators had were copies of copies and there had to be errors that crept in due to mis-copying the scriptures. Folks listen. Don't you know there were no originals of the Old Testament when Jesus and the Apostles lived on the earth yet time after time they quoted them as the Words of God. There was no doubt in their minds that they held the Words of God in the scrolls they read from. In the Book of Matthew Jesus had this to say about preservation: Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
The passage refers to the written law and not that which is quoted orally. The jot and the tittle refer to two of the characters in which Hebrew was written. Again. It refers to that which is written. In order for this statement to be true it means until heaven and earth shall pass away not one character of a word will be done away with much less the whole word. In order for this to be true we must still have the original wording somewhere.

Turn A Page

Turn a page to hear a voice
Of One who helps us make a choice.
Call upon His name this hour
Be saved by His grace and power.

Turn a page to read some more
Of golden gates beyond a door
A door still open for those in need
Of sins forgiven and being freed.

Pages flow perfectly into each other
Encouraging us to love one another.
Turn another, ponder and read
And on His Word, begin to feed.

Living words will take hold
Granting us faith to then be bold…
Bold enough to honor His book
That draws us deeper for another look.

God writes upon each seeking heart
And changes us to become a part
Of His family joined with holy love
Who are entered into His book above.

Seeds of faith are found on each page
Planted in souls throughout each age.
Golden pages help us to see
The glory of eternity.
