Tears of Africa

Photobucket

Tears of Africa

With outstretched hands and pain unknown
A country weeps among its own
Who will stop now from their labor-
To hold the hand of our suffering neighbor
In urgent need
And rescue her from wicked deed?

Broken hearts, dreams, wings
Among many other things
Lives trampled-
From hateful rulers who do not care
But to act from cruelty and lust,
While turning the innocent
Into ashes and dust.

Africa buries her young who were never made free.
Coffin boxes come and go along her path
Covered with prayers and tears all the time
Victimized by disease, hunger and
The violent acts of wrath.

Death valleys continue to grow
For all to see
How many never knew
Of true liberty.
Their bones have a voice
And we need to make a choice
To defend those who
cannot defend themselves.
Their bones have a voice
And their blood cries out
Just as Abel’s blood cried out to the Lord.

We are to be as the Samaritan
that couldn't walk by
the wounded man
but
had to sincerely try
To help him live---
instead of abandoning him
to die.

Nothing is hidden from the eyes of the Lord.

Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
