Like Honey
So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. This is found in Romans 10:17.
This verse is one of the first I ever learned when reading Scripture and I will thank God always for helping me to keep this one to memory. God has helped me to understand what it is I should be listening to as well as what is right for me to hear.
Some sounds and words can be pleasant and nourishing to our whole being and some are quite the opposite. Everyday we are surrounded by opinions, various communications,sounds,noises,music,gossip and much of what we take in can be irritating and confusing. Then there are sounds that are uplifting. Just the other night I was watching a Billy Graham crusade from 25 years ago and the message he was giving then through God’s Word – stood well for today.
The Bible is wisdom. It is timeless wisdom and truly daily Bread. In Proverbs 16:24 we read –“ Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones” and in Proverbs 24:14 Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. Romans 10:17 helps me to understand the sweetness of wisdom and there is no sweeter form of wisdom known
to mankind than God’s Son – Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:30 - But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:.
He walked this earth for us and with us in perfect obedience, He gave all while we were yet sinners. He takes our burdens, even this day… He is listening to our hurts and problems. It is written in Matthew 11:28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. He does give rest and he gives absolute assurance. There is peace he gives that the world simply cannot give.
I believe what is written . I know this Word to be as sweet as honey and I believe in all that Jesus did and still does. Don’t have others tell you what the Bible says. Prayerfully read it and trust in Him. God is indeed our help and wants the best for His children. Do not be deceived. Because of Christ we are redeemed. Because of Christ we are sanctified and loved with an everlasting love from our Heavenly Father.
Your soul will know what is good to eat. Get wisdom . Get to know Jesus yourself.
There is nothing sweeter than an ongoing relationship with the Good Shepherd of the pasture. Sweet...like honey-but much better.
