Stand Up One More Time

Sometime's on life's climb,
One must move uphill
Stop- to catch a breath
Pause for a moment
to be still-then journey
on until- a misstep
and a fall that land's
one on the ground
Looking up to see
Is anyone around...
Only a bird in a tree
with a beautiful voice
calling out to thee
singing,"Stand up
Traveler!Just
one more time
and with wings
of courage
continue on
With your
 Climb".

Empty Chairs

These are some of  my recent reflections on the increase in violence done in America to our school children. I never heard of NewTown, Connecticut until 12/17/2012  when a massacre took place at a children's school.  This brought to mind the event of 1999 Columbine, Colorado high school killings. And then I think about the  2006 Amish school killings that happened in Pennsylvania, the same state that holds our Liberty Bell.  All these terrible acts  occurred where our youth of tomorrow were made prisoners in a school building and had their last breath. I cannot imagine what goes through a parent's mind when their phone rings with this news. I am blessed with two children and the thought of a phone call coming my way with news like the above, gives me chills and is heartbreaking to say the very least. This form of violence takes on a new category. The act of violence is carried out with no thought of consequence. The act must go on.

When does it change for the better? There are still "mini-stories" that occur on weekly basis of very young children coming to school with a gun from their home. Our prayers need feet.
Scripture proclaims :  James 1: 22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. We also read : Romans 13:10Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Love was absent in the above crimes.
Violence took over.   How long must this sort of history repeat itself?

The light and the glory

Is now a passing story
Who can understand
What happens in our land
Wisdoms voice will not stay
Where Violence labors away
America's light is fading to black
Too many simply turn their back
On the children of tomorrow
who will know of great sorrow
as empty seats are left at the table
Because violence will only enable
perished memories and suffering.
Suffering  will be a song
We'll all sadly sing
Because the Bell of Freedom
Has ceased to ring.

Don't let go of the Law of Love. It exists throughout the universe.
We can be the change and our children depend on it.
All life is sacred.
We must all see life with the same eye.
Shalom.
