1 Cor. 1:10-17 Study - Not With Wisdom of Words

10Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

11For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

12Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

14I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

15Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

16And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

17For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Verse Review : 1 Corinthians 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you?

or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

The same answer is known to all three questions. No.

The beginning of Corinthians starts: 1 Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God...,
Paul is called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ . There is to be unity in the body of Christ as proclaimed in verse 10 --- speak the same thing and
be of the same mind
and the same judgement.

There are a few passages telling us how the Body of Christ should function and three questions asked of Paul in verse 13 - with the intended answer being a solid and firm --no . ** Nothing is about Paul - except that he is a devoted vessel in the hands of God, spreading the good news and pointing others continually to our Lord Jesus Christ.

True children of God are together and function as one.
This is taught in a few places throughout Scripture.

Jeremiah 32
38And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

39And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they
may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

40And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

Ezekiel 11:19
And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Acts 4:32
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

What did Jesus proclaim ? : John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

All of Scripture points to Jesus . The testimony of Christ is a solid unfailing witness in the heart of all true children of God and can be thought of as a sacred eternal anchor .

Verse Review of 17 -- For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

All who are called upon --honor the following about The Gospel:

Matthew 24:14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Mark 16:15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

And looking at the phrase " Not With Wisdom of Words" - Two places in Scripture come to mind when I read this phrase:

Matthew 18:2And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children,

ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child,

the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

1. It all comes back to being humble,obedient and trusting of our Heavenly Father.
It is a clear truth.
***Converted - --is the blessed, unfailing work of the Holy Spirit .

John 3

6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

2.The Word that changes us is the Word of God - wisdom of words is talking of the worldly wisdom and we have heard plenty of preachers out there who have grown weary by overstudying and over preaching or using their own understanding and analogies in their attempt to bring their own meaning to the Scriptures-- *there is written warning of this found in Ecclesiastes 12:12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
Other parts of Ecclesiastes address the topic of vanity - I have heard many a preacher - preach to the ugly tone of vanity and not that of humble spirit . Announcements of baseball scores, and other worldly matters sounding off from the pulpit do no good to a hungry and hurting soul -needing to learn more of Jesus .

Fortunately- thanks be to God ... I have also known those to truly preach of humble spirit and their true witness and love for the Lord will stay with me always.

****The Bible is the tool God uses to draw and bring His children closer to Him . We must simply trust the Bible to do its work as purposed by The Author .

Isaiah 55:11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

1 Corinthians 1:1-9 verse study - Carefully read through twice before continuing this study.

1Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, 2Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: 3Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Glimpses of cherished moments to reflect upon at the ending of this year. Some pictures are of our home - a few others are from Barbados years ago with Uncle Joe, some are of Westbury Gardens with my Dad, others are of Silverlake Park in Baldwin, NY - a park that I played in when I was little and now take walks my husband and family. There's a picture of me and the kids by the Christmas Tree at Reckson Plaza in Uniondale. That evening I was blessed to wear a beautiful shawl given to me as a gift by a very thoughtful friend. ( Thank you D.M ) Happy New Year to all that drop by this site .

We took our walk at the beach today -- playing a little
guitar and enjoying beautiful sunshine.

in the Hand of one
who has always known me

Breaking dark chains that held
me captive -setting me free
to dance to the rhythm
of Eternal heart - hearing the
songs of love, sorrow, joy and pain

All of this I can contain
As all of this contains me-

Being free to feel
and know what is real

Autumn Evening Meditation

Songs of the crickets are heard at night

While the moon looks over us gold and bright

Some parts of the earth are tired and at rest

While other lands wake up laughing and refreshed

Sights and sounds fill the atmosphere

Prayers are spoken –at times with a tear

This world is more than we will ever know

And yet what we know already is enough

To make faithful hearts see the beginning

To the end… doesn’t start with us –rather

We are part of a sacred circle

Joined to Lord Jesus.

We cannot hold all things

In our hands... but we know who does

And He understands our hopes and fears, our

tears and cries – It is He who helps us to

realize – His truth at all times will stand

eternal–and Scripture …like His circle, cannot

be broken. In Him, we are made whole and complete.

Which Door ?

Which Door ?

There is more than one door

On this earth to explore

Some will want the door of violence

Others-the door that leads to silence

Some keep striving in what they are looking for

And then they approach an eternal Door

Greeted by One who shines bright

Removing the darkness-giving sight

Gently leading us by his voice

A voice one cannot ignore

And He pours out the truth

For the thirsty to drink

That we thirst for truth no more.

John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water
that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water
that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life.

I Prayed To My Savior

A day came where all my wrongs filled my heart
Broken I was and falling apart
I knew Jesus -but had gone the wrong way
On bended knee with flowing tears I prayed.

I prayed for the help only He could give-
That He would guide me in the way I should live
I prayed to my Savior…comfort to bring
To my soul filled with sorrow and suffering.

He filled my soul with eternal song
Touching my heart with sacred love
Christ helped me then as helps me today
To trust fully in Him,knowing He is The Way.

On bended knee was the start
Of this thankful beating heart
On bended knee I was set free...
My spirit praising Him continually.

Opening Prayer: May we join together in a prayer of thanks for being able to read and learn from the lessons found in the Bible. May our hearts be open to understand the importance of faith and obedience to our gracious God.

One window on The Ark
Would let a dove fly free,
Gliding out from the dark…
Returning with a gift from a tree.
One dove would bring a gentle sign
Declaring days have arrived for the sun to shine.

On The Ark there was one door.
Closed tight by our mighty Lord.
Believers rest on His ark forevermore
Knowing His Word is a two edged sword.
One family found to humbly obey
The words of our Lord and in His love stay.

The ark floated and remained above
A covered earth from rains of wrath.
Faithful family were in God's love
Following a righteous path.
God carries His children in His arm
Protecting them from eternal harm.

One rainbow would be seen in the sky…
Promises are kept and sealed.
Our Lord of Life is always nearby
And hears our prayers while we walk in His field.

He Almost Passed Them By

He fed five thousand with bread
And though five thousand is quite a lot
Those with hardened hearts considered it not
He healed the sick and spoke the truth
Though hardened hearts needed more proof…
We can certainly understand why
We read in Scripture of how Jesus
Almost passed them by.
Instead, He chose to take a walk
And while His feet were on the sea, He began to talk
Holy words reaching into listening ears
“Be of good cheer:
It is I; be not afraid”
Words as a balm … Soothing their troubles and fears.
How thankful we are to read of this account
Of all that was needed – a tremendous amount
For some to finally begin to receive
The blessed measure of faith
And the prayerful work of Christ
In order to humbly believe.

A Time to Be Silent

What do some think when I remain silent…
And choose not to act in ways loud and violent?
My weakness is what they claim to see
However, I am as strong as strong can be.

My greatest battles are won without word
While pride and foolish noise spout off the lips of some
Victory is mine when keeping silent,
Not adding onto vain clamors absurd.

When weighing out options to use my voice
The reality is - I do have a choice.
Discerning souls understand this is true –
Using inner strength and scriptural guidance
In knowing the times in when to keep silent
As we are taught by our merciful Lord to do.

The Last Word

What shall it be-
The last word…ever to be spoken
What shall be said to you or me?

Will it be whispered or sung?
Will it be proclaimed to the angels or shared
Out loud with everyone?

Is it etched in my heart already...
Have I treasured what I've heard-
Trusting in the faith and perfect work of
Jesus Christ – also known by our family
As, The Word ?

Long ago …what was spoken and said –
Now written in Bibles -Christ’s words in red
For those seeking, for those who believe
And gladly receive the truth of our Saviour.

Can one know the last word
And not yet know the last day
Will I know my last word,
What it is I shall say?

To the Creator of all things
To the showers of righteousness He alone brings
To the One who brought me through His Door
I say now and always to my gracious God , “Thank you and Amen”.

“Amen” as it is written – the last word in The Book
He placed in my hands and heart in this life –
that from His love and His Word …I shall never depart.

Japan's wind turbines survived last week's earthquake and as a result utilities have now asked wind farm operators to boost power output to make up for energy shortages in the country, the leader of the Japanese wind energy association has revealed.
Writing on the Huffington Post, Kelly Rigg, chief executive of the Global Campaign for Climate Action, yesterday revealed she had spoken to Yoshinori Ueda, leader of the International Committee of the Japan Wind Power Association and Japan Wind Energy Association, who told her that none of its members reported damage to wind turbines after last week's natural disasters.

Although some wind turbines did stop operating as a result of grid failure caused by the earthquake and tsunami, Ueda said most Japanese wind turbines were fully operational, including the Kamisu semi-offshore wind farm which was located about 300km from the epicenter of the quake.
Eurus Energy Holdings said on Monday that it had resumed operations at six wind farms in northern Japan, which had stopped running after the earthquake. The resumption of power output came in response to a request from Tohoku Electric Power, one of the utilities battling to cope with power shortages in the wake of the disaster.
As Japan's nuclear crisis continues to unfold, investor confidence in renewable energy and fossil fuels is expected to rise, with doubts increasing around the saftey of nuclear power.

More Than Flavor

More Than Flavor

Long ago, salts were used to preserve

Meats that were served

At a table gathered

With friends and loved ones.

Salts can add flavor to foods that are plain

And-a little is enough and just right

To change a bland meal

Into a feast of delight.

Weary travelers may carry salt

For a different reason- as salt

Is not only used to

Flavor and season

But after walking from place to place

Certain salts added to water can

Bring comfort and healing

To achy feet that are

Red, sore and peeling.

We can swim in a salty sea

Under the gold sun joyfully

Reflecting on the words of Jesus

Where He taught others to become

Fishers of men --wonderful

Scriptural lessons we love to

Hear ...again and again.

Salt is here to stay,

As are the Words of Jesus.

Those who believe

And experienced new birth –

Are preserved

By the eternal goodness

Of God who called us to be

The salt of the earth.

They Took His Garments

His garments

But failed to take

What they’d really need

Dividing His coat and raiment--

Do Not Disturb

Opening Prayer : Pray to our gracious Heavenly Father
asking for renewal in having full confidence and trust in Him .

Focus Bible Verse:

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Opening discussion questions :

1. Have you ever let things bother you more than they should ?
Take turns sharing .

2. Has anyone or anything distracted you so much that you
felt sad for a long time?

Take turns sharing.

3. Have you ever seen a sign on a door that said " Do Not Disturb " ?

If not , usually this is a little sign that may be placed
on an office door when someone does not want to be distracted.
Also , people traveling from place to place
who are very tired and need extra rest in the morning ,
will place this sign up on their door when they do not want to be bothered.
Tired travelers are in need of sleep and rest.

4. Talk about the following to the children:
Sometimes no matter what age we are, life can bring us difficult times.
All of us -at any age can- feel like a tired traveler.
When we do , we can look to the words of Jesus in our focus verse today
where He proclaims :

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."

There He Was -
Faithful and True
With His arms opened wide
Telling me, “I have something for you."
He gave me a coat that sparkled on each side
And it shined like the sun
Just as He did-
He shined as a light that could never be hid.

There He was -
Faithful and True
With His arms opened wide
Telling me, “Darkness will not find us here-
Nor will doubt, sadness or any terrible fear. ”
Christ took my hand and helped me to understand
How every truth He wrote on my heart,
Guided me straight to His Heavenly land.

There He was -Faithful and True
The writer of my heart -The anchor to my soul
The One I always believed in –
Who fed, cleansed and clothed me
And made me whole.

as taught by His Son ,Jesus Christ .

Psalm 2:11

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Psalm 2:11

The word -fear- in many Bible verses
means respect and reverence for our merciful Lord.
To " serve the Lord with fear " as
written in Psalm 2:11 tells us the humble and blessed relationship
children of God have with Him.

Our Heavenly Father proclaims to us in Psalm 2:11 that in serving Him with obedience from the heart we can rejoice ...as there is much to rejoice about .

Being part of Christ's ministry is reason to rejoice with trembling.
When you share the truth and love of Christ with others
as opportunities come about,you are truly serving the Lord with reverence.

You are the light that Jesus Christ called you to be in
this darkening world. Jesus proclaimed :

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify your
Father which is in heaven.

As the world darkens with increased sinful activity
your heart filled with Christ light
will only shine brighter...so trust in Him,stay
the course, finish the race with the gift God
gave you of true faith and rejoice !

Does God keep an eye on us ?

Behold, the eye of the LORD is toward them that fear Him,
toward them that wait for His mercy;Psalm 33:18

Who is a shield to those that fear Him ?

It is written : Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD:
he is their help and their shield. Psalm 115:11

Who does the Lord take pleasure in ?

The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him,
in those that hope in his mercy.
Psalm 147:11

What is it to really rejoice with trembling ?

When Paul's eyes opened from knowing our Saviour - he rejoiced with a fear and trembling that was not only spiritually healthy but a well-spring of motivation for him to be a bold and faithful servant of God.

From Phillipians 2:12-18

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my
presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out
your own salvation with fear and trembling.

*13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will
and to do of his good pleasure.

14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke,
in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among
whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. 17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. 18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

We have a great reminder in verse 13 which tells us that God is with us . We are never alone in our labors for Him . Our full duty is complete because greater is He who dwells within us allowing us to bring forth good fruit as also declared by Jesus in John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

With 2011 around the corner , may all those who are called to be lights in this world for Jesus Christ ,shine bright , rejoice and honor God in the ways He has
made known to us . May we humbly and thankfully reflect upon the spiritual truth spoken by Mary as written in Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

May God richly bless all of you with greater understanding
of His Word, Wisdom and may your vocation in Christ be
abundantly fruitful.

Tree of Life

Right on the top there is a star

(A reminder of those who travelled afar)

As branches of brilliant green fill up what is in-between.

On every branch of the tree there are tiny sparkles of light,

Creating a luminous appearance and a truly magnificent sight.

Golden-stringed harps are heard playing by the angels nearby-

Music sanctifies the air with peace throughout a wintry sky.

Joyful children of all ages gather close round the tree to sing

Songs of praise and thanks… giving glory to our Lord and King.

Tree of Life brings more life, love and light to every seeking soul

Granting grace, hope and liberty; making our fragile heart whole.

We are those little lights that stand firm on branches of trust

Believing in Him always, for He is merciful and just.

What I celebrate and have been given to see

Is that Christ is the Tree, perfect and blessed

About Bald Eagles :
In 1782 the bald eagle was chosen to be the national bird
of the new country of the United States of America.

It was chosen for its majestic and solid stance.
It was regal. It was strong.

They are a majestic and protected bird in North America and
they are not allowed to be killed.

Eagles tend to make one home very high up which
they use year after year .

Eagles pair up together for life .

Their diet is made up of mostly fish .

They have excellent eyesight.

Bald eagles have 7,000 feathers.

Little ones are raised by both parents.

Beyond The Nest

In strong branches that reach the sky
Eagles first begin to soar
Never stopping to wonder why-
Created to glide and explore.

Faithful eagles take great care
of their young ones without rest
instructing them to prepare
for their flight beyond the nest.

And they journey from land to sea
In the warm rays of the sun
They strive to live courageously
Until their purposed course is done.

There's a lesson here for us.
Have we flown beyond our nest-
Bold and trustworthy for God's Son
Sharing our faith with all the rest...

Unceasing should our efforts be

Happy Thanksgiving

Worthy Of Praise

In the quiet of my room,

I rest under your eyes.

You have saved me from doom.

Christ's kingdom is my prize.

Am I dreaming or is it real?

All that I've seen ,all that I feel..

Reading the Bible, knowing His love,

Everything I've learned from our Lord above.

God is so great and I truly understand,

That I'm like a tiny precious grain of sand.

A miniature rock among numerous others,

Connected to God's family of sisters and brothers.

I'll follow you Lord to the end of my days.

Only you dear Lord ,are worthy of full praise.

to help us move only in the direction and guidance of His voice .
Ask the Lord to give us understanding in the lessons we
will learn today straight from His Word and the
importance of our faith in Him .

Today's Focus Lesson Verse :

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Warm up activities : Hear My Voice - Blindfold Game .

( One bandana/blindfold needed , one group of children and one teacher.)

One child will be blindfolded . Across the room ( or ten feet away will do
should you want to do this activity outside ..)
will be the rest of the children on one side
and you the Sunday school teacher on the other .
You will say the child's name out loud and tell that child to hear
and follow only your voice . The other children at this time can be
sitting on the floor talking to each other or singing a little hymn .
Your voice is to be louder than theirs and directing the child
with the blindfold to keep hearing your voice and to keep walking in your direction .

Let each child have a turn at this game and at the end have them sit all in
one group and ask the following questions.

1. How did it feel to be blindfolded ? Talk about it.

2. Talk about how those who we learn about in the Bible who were blind and Jesus
then gave them sight. How do you think they felt ?

46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho
with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus,

Low flying cormorants journey in "V" formation
Hover the waters with a definite mission-
Eager to Explore
Looking together carefully...
Skillfully for a much needed provision.
"Mother Ocean" is certainly wide enough and
Polite enough to please
Providing with great ease
What the cormorants
Have been steadily searching for.

Echoes of our walking to and fro
Are heard on weathered wood planks -
How many echoes have been made this day
By travelers passing by this way?
How many yesterday ?How many tomorrow-
How many travel here with their joy
Or with their sorrow...
How many come here to appreciate the view-
of the birds,the emerald sea
and of other souls too ?

Seeing Red

Seeing Red

Wicked things spoken, deceitful words said

Pave a path of destruction by those blind and misled

Fruits revealed on this path are dark fruits to dread …

Causing others nearby to start seeing red.

Flee from unrighteousness rise from your bed

Walk with The King and by Him only be led

Speak words of wisdom-- with compassion, instead

The only “red” we need to see is found in redemption -

From Christ’s precious blood shed.

The words we need to hear and obey

He said for us this very day

So remember and trust always in Him

Who is The Light, The Word, The Truth and

Always follow Him – for He is The Way.

In the dawn of this new day
I watch from upon a rooftop

We begin as babies , then children , then young adults and then adults.

How about farmers growing a crop ? Do you think farmers can raise a crop without the gift of patience ? There is hard , enduring work , daily work
that needs to be done before a decent , fruitful crop can be grown.

Within A Word

Within a word is found the journey of our lives
Where there are moments of sunshine
Mixed with splatters of darkness
And through it all, Hope survives.

Patience brings the smaller word of pain.

We shall sustain.

Patience holds yet another word – paint.
We are all born to live under
A wonderful rainbow in the sky
Playing among Earth's golden plains
Breathing in vast oceans of blue
A world designed with colors
Most vivid and true.

Pace is necessary with patience
An important word found within
Noting the stride and steps we take
Towards others and the Lord -
Doing things prayerfully…

Broken-hearted

Broken-hearted

Among many stony hearts stood a trembling woman in desperate need of
consolation. Jesus was now before her bleeding, hurting, and pierced
in both handsand feet. Where is the window in the
sky that used to open up bright with the voice of wisdom
and commanding words to stop this cruelty?
Didn’t this crowdremember what the voice
from Heaven had already proclaimed to the
entire world about His Son?

Dark day fell upon us to nail Hope to a tree. Birds and angels were
no longer singing but looking at Hope and wanting to set Him free,
yet it was not the hour for Hope to be free. Vast clouds of gray
gathered together to weep over the precious Lamb of God.
The heart of Mary which prayerfully pondered all things
in unmovable faith and devotion had quietly snapped,
breaking in two... and only Lord Jesus knew.

From the cross, He spoke to her and then to His Beloved
to take care of her.From the cross, He remained compassionate,
faithful and true. From the cross,Christ still commanded and was
obeyed by those who truly loved Him. Though His body was torn,
His Spirit remained strong. The crying heart of Mary had
broke in the presence of our suffering Christ, but would soon
rejoice again with others in the eternal pastures of Paradise
created and ruled by the Lord of Lords.

Mother didn’t tell me where we were journeying to
Just that there was something she needed to do.
My legs were getting tired from walking all day
Then with excitement she started to say,

Eyes of the heart are able to see
How a flower blooms most pleasantly .

Placed in a field lit with light
Enjoying the day , resting at night.

A flower blooms on tender ground
A scented treasure easily found.

Little winged guests come and go

Rain likes to dance with petals of pink
While lovely flower welcomes a drink.

For Teachers: If you have a reference book on instruments or actual musical instruments you can bring in , that would help the children
in a tremendous way today .

Discussion Questions :

1. Do birds sing a song ? Crickets , Frogs ? Have you ever listened to their songs ?

2. Have you ever heard the rain splash against a window or into puddles ?

3. Did you know the whales in the ocean have been heard singing ?

4. Did you know in some recorded music , sounds of nature --
such as bird songs, whale songs and falling rain are blended into the music ?

5. Do you sing or play an instrument ?

6. How many instruments can you name ?

7. Have you ever thought of yourself as
an instrument ?

Let's focus on the last question because you are an instrument of God . Your heartbeat, your voice , your hands are created to praise God and the sounds that come from you can and do praise Him .
There are sounds that we can make as well that
may not sound like music ....right ?

We know what screaming sounds like
and how we feel when we hear others around us bickering and arguing .
These sounds come from us as well .They do not sound like music at all !

A piano can be played carefully and thoughtfully.
Someone can also bang on the keys in an irritating way
and then - noise comes out ---not music. A trumpet can sound
bold , triumphant and clear or if played
the wrong way - can be a sound of pure disturbance !

Well...the same goes for people.

Let's read now a few verse from Ephesians :

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour,
and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.-- Ephesians 4:31-32

God designed us to be peacemakers, musical , joyful , loving and tenderhearted
and He desires us to walk this way and be this way with one another as much as
possible .

What kind of instrument do you want to be for God ?

Will you be as a song for Him , the way He intended you to be ?

Did you know He sings over His children ? Yes . God sings !

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty;
he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

It is a new day in this New Year and it is with joy that Christians can reflect upon are certain things that will always remain the same --and those things are completely of God.
We are part of the same body of Christ and called with the same calling.
We humbly serve the same eternal Lord of Life.
We care and pray for one another with the same care and
are moved by the Spirit of God
to live in loving obedience by the same faith.
We trust and firmly believe in the same spiritual promises
given to us by the victory in Christ Jesus.

Let us rejoice in our faith brothers and sisters. Let us give all honor and praise to our gracious God who has called us His children and is still calling out to His children this day that they may hear Him ...to turn to Him for comfort and guidance , for protection and strength, for love and healing , for forgiveness of wrongdoings and to help us shine bright the true light of Christ unto others in need.

On this brand new day in the New Year, let us continue to give praise
for all the abundant blessings and promises which remain
the same always and provided to us only by our merciful Lord .

In golden meadows, the wind doth blow
Among flowers and trees, a silent flow
Blessing God’s earth, and majestic sky
Where birds always sing while soaring high
Perpetual breeze will come and go
Comforting presence this we know.

It has been with us since long ago,
Moving at dawn and when the sun sinks low
Playing in fields and under trees where we dream
In golden meadows.

Cooling us off as we run to and fro
Carefree like us, with no troubles though
Lifting our spirits way up high

The mail arrived early today
An envelope traveled
A very long way
Someone cared to write
and share with me
their heartfelt thoughts
and poetry.

Before I sit down to see
Words that were written for me
I'll get to my favorite chair
handling my letter with care
Then open it up carefully.

Great joy it is to receive a note
That came from a very far place
A message written tenderly
That would help to make
A smile on my face.

Someone cared to write to me
And now I'll do the same
I'll pen a letter in return
to my beloved friend
Send it out with warmth and love
And gladly sign it with my name.

True Blue

True Blue

My heart remembers the tender glow
Of the deep caring eyes that have watched me grow.
From the time I was a baby, until the time I had my own
Eyes of bright blue remained attentive to me
Til’ I was fully grown.

He would let me climb up
The cherry blossom trees
In the nearby park
Just doing as I please.

Dad would take my picture indoors and out
Zooming in on a smile or a smirk
And at times he would
Capture my pitiful pout.

We would walk and talk –
On our way to church
He listened to my questions
As I’d ask about this life in my
Curious search.

Forever in my heart is a picture I hold
Of my gentle father who raised me
With love, and warmth
In such abundance
That I have never felt cold.

The deep caring eyes that
Have watched me grow
Are the true blue kind
A rare and priceless find-
He’ll never know
How much he
Has blessed
Me so.
