Let God Be Magnified - Lesson 2

Opening Prayer
: Join together in a prayer of thanks and praise as we
consider some of the ways God strengthens and helps
us in our daily walk with Him.

Memory Verse :
I will praise the name of God
with a song, And will magnify him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30

Hymntime :

JESUS! WHAT A FRIEND FOR SINNERS

Jesus! what a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.

Refrain

Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah! what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

Jesus! what a Strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him.
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my Strength, my victory wins.

Refrain

Opening Discussion Questions

1. Have you ever looked at a starry sky at night
and try to count all the stars ?

2. Have you ever been to a beach or a sandy place and try to count all the
grains of sand ?

3. Have you ever thought about how many different types of animals are
on this planet that live on earth or in the sea ?

4. Nature is one of the ways in which we have a powerful
witness of God around us at all times and the Bible
proclaims the following about the creation of God-- in Psalm 19:

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

The witness of His creation is a continual voice that is heard everywhere. The voice of nature cannot go unheard.

5. Have you ever thought about the people in your life that have helped you
to know of God -- that love and pray with you and for you ?

6. Have you thanked God for those loving
people He placed in your life ?

7. Is Jesus Christ on your list ?

Read the following :
For God sent not his Son into the world
to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved. John 3:17

In today's Bible reading we will also see how the Word of God
is a continual help and witness in our lives. We will learn
what David declares about God and how David magnifies God
with full trust .

Today's Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 22:29-33

29 For thou art my lamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.

31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried:
he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

32 For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock, save our God?

33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

Today's Bible Reading :

26 And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.
27 For thou, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee. 28 And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
29 Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

Hymntime

THE LORD BE WITH US

The Lord be with us as we bend
His blessing to receive;
His gift of peace upon us send,
Before His courts we leave.

The Lord be with us as we walk
Along our homeward road;
In silent thought or friendly talk
Our hearts be near to God.

The Lord be with us as each day
His blessings we receive;
His gift of peace on all we pray,
Before His courts we leave.

The Lord be with us till the night
Enfold our day of rest;
Be He of every heart the Light,
Of every home the Guest.

The Lord be with us through the hours
Of slumber calm and deep,
Protect our homes, renew our powers,
And guard us while we sleep.
