What Can We Learn From a Fish?

Photobucket

"Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?" Matthew 6:25.
Fish aren't very high on the intelligence scale. Nobody thinks much about them, except to use for food. There are no groups that I know of that protect them from mistreatment; yet they are usually caught with a hook, which could be considered cruel. To my knowledge there is no "Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Fish." In the order of things, they are on the bottom rung of the ladder. Fish know only what they can see. They don't do much worrying.

To calm my soul when life is hard,
I find respite in my back yard,
And inner turmoil, disregard.
I sit and stare into the pond,
And watch the fish swim round and round.
They do not worry what's beyond.
The fish know only what they see.
They have no care of what will be.
I learn from them, tranquility.

Sit and watch a school of fish. Or as I do, sit on the edge of the fishpond, and just stare at the fish, it is bound to calm your worry. The fish do not worry whether or not it is going to rain. They could care less whether or not you are going to feed them; because they know that somehow or other there will be food for them to eat. They are just content to keep on swimming and swimming, enjoying being fish.

Matthew 6 teaches us that we should not worry about food or clothes. If we seek Him, He will see to it that we have all these things. "Therefore take no thought, saying. What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or wherewithal shall we be clothed?.....for your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things....But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matthew 6: 31-34.
Let us take a lesson from the fish.

With Singing

Within the precious hours of each day, smiling souls delight in prayer

Guided by the Spirit of Truth; protected by angelic care.

Hearts are filled with peace from the holy kiss of Light,

Changing us with saving faith and new humble sight.

The children of God rejoice in His eternal place

Surrounded by His glory and amazing grace.

Be still now and listen to the

Infinite heart song

Of God.

Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty;
he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love,
he will joy over thee
with singing.

For God so gave us Christ and all creation (including simple little fish) to paint for us the grand picture of His eternal Love and to let us know there is no sacrifice too great to hand it to us as His Gift of Life. Isn't our God fantastic? Well, I say 'AMEN' to that! Helen, I don't know if I have ever mentioned that my husband and I have been in the watergarden/pond business since 1996 and I can remember like yesterday when a customer came into our store and explained what tremendous therapy her pond was for her to deal with the grief of the death of her son... God will find us when we look for Him - we may not know we are looking for 'Him', but it is Him, absolutely, Whom we find when we search wholeheartedly for peace, love, and truth for these three are not of this world. Blessings, sister Helen, as you travel this piece of life's road with your amazing Savior. And thank you, Julie, for posting this for my eyes to read this morning. Love and (((HUGS))) to you both!
