Would You Pass By ?

How many choose to walk on by
the stranger in need
telling themselves, "it would
be a danger-indeed"-
to draw near to their cup, placing
change toward their sup'...
How many just walk on by .

How many drive past
those broken down
standing near their flat tire
or by a home caught on fire...
Thinking "Quite a site to see " and say
to themselves, " Sure glad it's not me".

How many people just stop to stare
at someone hurt but not really care
to be of assistance
preferring resistance
Always on the outside looking in -
Seems rather shameful
In fact downright a sin.


Many of us already had those dark days
doing wrong things ...going wrong ways
Standing on the outside-while excuses filled our inside.
How easy it is to do as we please
feeding the well known selfish disease...
instead of doing what is right
forgetting that all of us remain in God's sight.

How many still need to ask God
to remove the selfish seed of pride
and place His Christ Son in one's heart
to shine, rule and reside
and in His Holy Spirit always abide.
